All GREEN Schools projects

Students in the Kindergarten class go outside daily for outdoor learning. They investigate, explore, walk around the community, or do inquiry based learning.

K-2 Class is studying bees, their first project was making bees from recycled materials.

Every day 2, for the entire school year, grade 3 classes go outside for a minimum of one hour in the afternoon for intentional outdoor education combining social studies, science, mathematics, arts, and social skills. They have learned about water conservation and how the seasons affect our flood plain, about Manitoba native plants and how they support insect life, and about how our school...

Our grade 3/4 class is spending Wednesdays, full days, outside at Fort Whyte Alive Forest School. They are learning "risky play", sustainability, how forests grow, what flora and fauna are in forests, and connect this learning with social studies, science, mathematics, and social skills curriculum content.

We cut string valentines and glued them to a tree drawn on construction paper and then displayed the art project in the hallway.

Students in Grade 3 recycle juice boxes etc, each week. They collect the juice boxes from each class around the school, sort, count and clean bins. The money they raise is used for field trips.

The Nature Kids Club will create a gardening committee within the environmental committee who are in charge of monitoring and responsible for setting priorities for the school in terms of how the garden is run.
