Perennial Native Plants Installations

All classes in Oakenwald from K-6 have been involved in culturing perennial plants that are native to Manitoba. We have been learning that to have a sustainable ecosystem, it is important for insects to have native perennials to depend upon for food and shelter.

Gr.3 Outdoor Classroom Learning

Every day 2, for the entire school year, grade 3 classes go outside for a minimum of one hour in the afternoon for intentional outdoor education combining social studies, science, mathematics, arts, and social skills.

Food Waste Prevention Committee

The Nature Kids Club creates a food waste prevention committee (organics) committee within the environmental committee who are in charge of collection, monitoring and responsible for setting priorities for the school in terms of how to reduce organics waste.
