The grade 4/5 class has created a school garden in the back of the school. The red soil found in this area of Korea is very good for gardening and growing vegetables. Our class has planted pumpkins, corn, carrots, and some sunflowers!
Strawberries! Over the winter months in Sokcho, strawberries are a common, delicious fruit that we can enjoy on the cold winter months. The strawberries are grown in green houses and are very large and delicious.
Three classes of students participated in the "Daffodil is a Promise", BC Min of Agriculture program. Each student helped to plant one or more daffodils around the school and in the courtyard. We learned about the daffodil life cycle and cut open a bulb to look inside.
Grades 2-5 celebrated Earth Day by cleaning up the walk to our favourite playground! We took garbage bags and gloves and collected 5 full bags of garbage in an attempt to clean up our local neighbourhood.
