1D captured tadpoles and have been raising them in our classroom for 2 months. We have had 2 species. The first species grew into toads and were released. The second are still developing and we observe them regularly.
Grade 3D compared 4 different types of soil through observation. They drew diagrams and described these soils using adjectives about the different colours and textures.
As Grade 3 works in the garden/outside we appreciate wildlife no matter how small. Students catch snails, toads, beetles etc in an appropriate cage to observe.
Grade 3 worked together to start the beginning stages of our class/club garden. Step one tilling the soil.
We have been teaching students about growing their own food from seeds in our very own vegetable garden, using compostable materials that students collect from classrooms and staffrooms. It was fun for the kids to see a pumpkin grow all by itself from last years compost pile!
