Staff decided to paint many of the bulletin boards this year instead of covering with paper. The boards are fantastic, staff used cans of paint that they had at home that just had some paint left.
Members of the O'Leary community noticed that the schoolyard needed to be cleaned up after the melt of winter's snow. In response to this, students went outdoors to pick up trash on the school grounds in order to give it the cleaning it needed.
Archbishop O'Leary students of Grades 10, 11, and 12 took part in the North Saskatchewan River Valley Cleanup opening event. Thousands of people from the whole city of Edmonton participated in this initiative that it's been organized for many years by the City of Edmonton.
Every year, in April, our class does a special school clean-up for four days. One partner picks up the garbage and the other partner writes down what type of garbage it is, on a data collection sheet. Each student gets 2 turns to pick up garbage and 2 turns to record data.
Grades 2-5 celebrated Earth Day by cleaning up the walk to our favourite playground! We took garbage bags and gloves and collected 5 full bags of garbage in an attempt to clean up our local neighbourhood.
