Every classroom and the staffroom in our school has a composting bucket. At the end of each lunch hour a composting team collects the compost and puts it into two compost bins.
All 13 classes have compost buckets. We collect the compost (vegetables and fruit matter), and take it to be composted at the Community Garden.
Students care for red wiggles throughout the school year and harvest their castings for the school courtyard garden.
We recycle newspaper into small pots to plant seeds and sprout seedlings. These planters are bio degradable so we can just plant the whole unit, planter and seedling into a bigger pot or the ground when the seedling needs to be transplanted.
