One student has used styrofoam insulation to build an igloo. The insulation was destined for the dump, so the student's project has kept it out of the landfill. The project has helped students learn about Inuit culture and igloo construction. Also, the student has learned some beginning carving skills.

Throughout the month of December we put a call out to the school community to donate burnt out Christmas light bulbs and old Christmas cards. The response was overwhelming and those bulbs and cards that were once destined the garbage turned into beautiful Christmas decorations. The primary hockey club made trophies out of recycled items. Some of the recycled items included: plastic bottles, big water jugs, recycled paper, etc. The trophies will be used as prizes for the best team at the end of clubs. CIS - Vietnam

The 1st and 2nd grades students at Beau Soleil are helping the environment by reusing used fruit and pudding containers. Cleaned containers are great to pour paint into it when students are having Arts lessons. A little work to clean them up, but a big help for our planet. To spread the word about the new school Environmental Group we used newspapers instead of printing on paper from the computer.
