Be the Change Project: 'Media Effects on Teen's Body Image'

The project involved a session organized by student leaders to evaluate the Media's Effects on Teen Girl's Body Image and Self-Esteem. The session took place over different section's forty-minute Health classes. The session began with a 10-minute video that described the Media Effects on Teen Girls and a group discussion. After a short positive message video, mirrors were presented to participants for them to write positive messages on. These tokens helped set in the ideas discussed during the session.

The following week, the exercise was opened up to the entire school. It allowed students to voluntarily write a positive message on a mirror.

I loved the mirror project, one of the best things I’ve done in school by far!  I would love if we could go back and finish cause some of us didn’t get to finish writing on others but still very fun!  Loved it!” - Student Participant
