Be the Change Project

Hunting Hills participants had two projects about hurtful words and bullying:

1. Focus on effect of words: shirts had derogatory word and statement “words can hurt…” on the back, an affirming word and the statement “or they can heal.” on the back

2. Affirming quotes put on boys and girls bathrooms.

Be the Change Project: Sticks and Stones

The "Sticks and Stones" project produced by CONNECTIONS students from Hunting Hills High School intends to bring awareness to others about how hurtful words can be. The students who headed the project went online to invite other students in the school to participate in making the video, thus, spreading their message far out into the school community. Before showing the video, the CONNECTIONS students had their peers do a survey to measure their awareness of the effects of hurtful language. After showing the video, the group gave out a post-video survey to assess the impact of their message, and were able see positive changes
