Be The Change Project 1
In our final project we hosted a bake sale over the duration of a week (May 28th - June 1st), we planned on raising $500 and to raise awareness of the importance of empowerment. A week before our bake sale occurred we did morning announcements to give information about empowerment, the wins and of course our bake sale. We also put out our ‘Walls of Empowerment’ which were just moving bulletin boards that we had decorated with information about empowerment and the WINS, we left these out for a week prior to our bake sale as well. Over the planned week for our bake sale, we would leave 10 minutes before the lunch bell would ring and go set up our tables in the North and South Social's (different eating areas). We would stay out all lunch selling items and we would pack up once the bell rang to end lunch, we all pitched into the baking bringing in items that we thought would sell well. After our bake sale ended we would announce the amount we had raised, thank our high school and our project would be complete.
Be The Change Project 2
The Chestermere students raised awareness about the importance of respecting each other and creating a safer school environment for everyone. This group of students gave each homeroom a cut out template of a T-Shirt and asked each class to write positive statements, after they hung them up during Alison Springer's presentation, and then after the presentation, they put each T-shirt on each classroom door.

Be the Change Project
The CONNECTIONS program at this school is offered as the Leadership Course – on the timetable. Below are some of this semester’s projects
Group 1. helping elementary students develop leadership skills by rotating through several stations with focus on “What does leadership mean to you.? What are qualities of a leadership? How are you a leader?” The questions asked before and after the activities indicated effective learning.
Group 2. helping middle school(grades6-9) students understand about multiculturalism and how racism and stereotypes affect others through presentations and games
2015:
Be the Change Project: 'Acceptance Movement Presentation'
We gave a presentation about inner beauty, friendship, confidence, and self-love to grade 9 classes preparing for high school. The boys saw a separate presentation about confidence and respect. The students created a powerpoint discussing their themes, and added their own personal experiences to the presentation. They also helped the students develop strategies and tokens (dream catchers) to assist in keeping the negativity out of their lives and getting them into the mindset for high school.
“With this project, we hope to impart a better knowledge of respect, acceptance, and confidence. Thereby improving the overall culture and energy of Chestermere High next year!” - Student Organizer
Impact: 120 Grade nine students

Be the Change Project: 'Combat stereotyping'
Chestermere High participants had a goal to focus on stereotyping, slang and bullying. They had accomplished this goal through two steps:
1. To combat stereotyping and hurtful words, CONNECTIONS students gave a presentation to grade 8 students at the nearby middle school, using a jeopardy game and a slang crisis presentation.
2. PowerPoint and discussion on how to deal with bullying presented to a CALM class
